In October of 1971, my wife Esther and I embarked on a wonderful adventure with a Christian church and development society now called World Team. I had grown up as a farmer and then became a chemical engineer. Esther was raised in Bolivia as the daughter of missionary parents. We met in Alberta and attended and graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, where we currently live.

We were assigned to join Don & Carol Richardson in Irian Jaya (now Papua), Indonesia where they were working among the primitive Sawi tribe, about 3000 people with their own unique language and culture. Don’s book Peace Child tells much about the Sawi and their reception of the Gospel.

After adequately learning both the national Indonesian language and the local Sawi language and culture, we ministered primarily to the Sawi through evangelism, church development, leadership training, community development projects, medical work, literacy, and Bible translation.

Our three children, Tony, Ramie, and Liselle, were all born in Irian Jaya. Tony and Ramie got part of their education in the International schools there.

In 1994 we returned to Canada for what we thought would be just a regular visit. However, a number of health problems
and other factors arose to prevent our return.

Since we have been in Canada, I have started the printing business described in this website to support my family. Esther and I still do some part-time work for World Team also.

Tony is a computer programmer and works for Alberta Education. In 2003 he married Melissa Mauldin of Texas. They have a baby Lucy (born 2010) and live in Edmonton, Alberta.

Ramie graduated with a degree in Bible and music at Prairie Bible College in 2004. She is married to Mathew Clarke of Edmonton (wedding July 2007). They live in Edmonton.

Liselle successfully finished photography at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton. She married Mike Thibault (wedding Jan 2009). They had their first baby Céili (she was born 2010) and live in Three Hills where they are taking over Copy ’n Print.
